You Shouldn't Do That

There's so much pressure on people to be successful these days. To be aggressive and achieve things in life. To be better than everyone else. Richer, stronger, faster, more beautiful. You might admire ruthless, powerful people and aspire to be like them but don't be hard on those gentler souls who don't subscribe to your philosophy. You probably depend on them much more than you realise. Never push them in a direction they don't want to go. You might just lose the very thing you're searching for and drive away someone who really cares for you. You shouldn't do that.

You shouldn't do that

To a heart as gentle as mine

Well, I love you baby and you know I do

But you treat me bad and I’m telling you

That you shouldn’t do that

No, you shouldn't do that

You shouldn't do that

To a heart as gentle as mine

Well, you call me names and you put me down

You make me feel like a lovesick clown

And you shouldn't do that

No, you shouldn't do that

You shouldn't do that

To a heart as gentle as mine

My friends tell me that I'm a fool

They all know how you treat me cruel

I wouldn't do that to a love that's true

I wouldn't do that

To a heart as gentle as mine

Well, I know you're only cause me pain

So I'm leaving, baby on the midnight train

Cos you shouldn't do that

No, you shouldn't do that

You shouldn't do that

To a heart as gentle as mine

There’s no reason for me to stay

Gonna pack my things and I’m on my way

I wouldn’t do that if I had my say

You shouldn’t do that

To a heart as gentle as mine

When you wake up tomorrow and find me gone

You’re gonna realise just what you’ve done wrong

And you shouldn’t’a done that

No, you shouldn’t’a done that

You shouldn’t’a done that

To a heart as gentle as mine
