Take What You Want

Recorded at 2014 International Peace Festival

"Doesn't the Lord work in mysterious ways? When I was a young boy, I wanted a bike. All my friends had bikes. But my family were poor. My father was out of work and couldn't afford to buy me a bike. So every day in the weeks leading up to Christmas, I prayed hard for a new bike. Imagine my disappointment when Christmas Day arrived and there was no bike. I was devastated. How could God let me down? My father saw how upset I was and explained to me that God simply doesn't work like that. He helps those who are prepared to help themselves. So I went out and beat up another boy in the street and stole his bike. Then I prayed to God to forgive me. Isn't God wonderful?  I was so happy. I was forgiven and I had a new bike. I have since lived my life by God's rules and because of His help and forgiveness, I am now a very rich and successful businessman and head of a large, multi-national corporation. If only more people had the same faith and belief in the Lord, the world would be a much better place."

TAKE WHAT YOU WANT

If you wait, you’ll be waiting forever
You’ll be working your fingers to the bone
You may as well go down to the river
And fall in and sink like a stone
You can either be hungry and feeble
And feed off the crumbs on the ground
Or grab what you can from the table
Where there’s more than enough to go round

Take what you want
They’ve got more than they need
Don’t accept that there’s nothing for you
Take what you want
Get it now
Take what you want

If you wait then you’ll just give up trying
And they’ll have you work till you drop
And all of their cheating and dealing and lying
And stealing is not gonna stop
You can live in the filth and the squalor
And beg for the scraps that they throw
Or take hold of them by the collar
And force them to pay what they owe

Take what you want
They’ve got more than they need
Don’t accept that there’s nothing for you
Take what you want
Get it now
Take what you want

World Peace Day

The International Day of Peace (“World Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on 21 September. It was established in 1981 when the United Nations General Assembly declared this as a day of non-violence and ceasefire devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. Anyone, anywhere can celebrate Peace Day. It can be as simple as lighting a candle, sitting in silent meditation, or doing a good deed for someone. Or it can involve getting your co-workers, organisation, community or government engaged in a large event. You can also share thoughts, messages and pictures to commemorate Peace Day on social media.
